OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today was administered the oath of office and sworn in for his first full term as the state’s chief legal officer during the inaugural ceremony on the south steps of the Oklahoma State Capitol.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced he has appointed long-time Oklahoma City businessman Marshall Snipes to serve on the board of directors for the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET).

Snipes, of Oklahoma City, brings over 40 years of experience in business, including senior level experience in accounting, financial services, insurance and the health care industry.

Attorney General Hunter said Snipes’ leadership qualities and vision as businessman and health care advocate make him a great fit for the position.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) customers will see lower bills during the new year after the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) today voted in favor of an order that determines how the company will return money to customers from the 2017 federal tax cuts.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced the Department of Defense (DOD) and NextEra Energy have again extended the deadline to reach a mitigation plan on a wind farm along a route of airspace the military uses for training.

NextEra has been authorized to proceed with construction on turbines that have been approved by the FAA.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced for-profit education company Career Education Corporation (CEC) will forgo collecting more than $2.2 million in student loan debt from 1,131 Oklahomans as part of a national settlement.

In total, the company will forgive over $493.6 million to 179,529 students from 48 states and the District of Columbia. The only two states not included in the settlement are California and New York.

OKLAHOMA CITY – A husband and wife duo who were previously charged with 115-counts of Medicaid fraud by a federal grand jury have been sentenced to prison and have been ordered to pay $268,796.70 in restitution to the state’s Medicaid program.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced a settlement agreement has been reached with Wells Fargo Bank that addresses the bank’s account scandal and business practices that date as far back as 2009.

As part of the settlement, Wells Fargo will pay $575 million to 50 states and the District of Columbia. The bank will also create and implement a consumer redress review program, where customers who have not been made whole through other restitution programs can seek a review for possible relief.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter’s Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence (SAFE) Task Force today marked a major milestone in the continued effort to reform how the state deals with untested sexual assault evidence kits.

A sexual assault evidence kit, also known as a rape kit, is a forensic exam used to collect evidence from a victim of sexual assault. The procedure is performed by a medical professional and is voluntary for victims.
