OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor confirmed the receipt of a decision today from a federal district court concluding that Oklahoma’s protocol for the execution of convicted murderers is constitutional. In a case that has spanned nearly a decade, with multiple trips to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Honorable Stephen P. Friot issued a final judgment in the State’s favor this morning, alongside findings of fact and conclusions of law fully supporting the State’s positions.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor applauds the Oklahoma Legislature and Governor Kevin Stitt for enacting common sense safety and privacy protections for students in Senate Bill 615.  Taking effect immediately, SB 615 simply ensures that in Oklahoma, public schools will designate restrooms, locker rooms, and the like for exclusive use based on a student’s objective sex rather than subjective identity, and it creates an avenue for parents to be involved in making certain that schools comply with the law and their children are protected.

Mithun has faithfully served Oklahoma with integrity, honesty, and exemplary commitment to the rule of law.  As Solicitor General, Mithun played a key role in Oklahoma’s most high-profile cases, including arguing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in McGirt v. Oklahoma.  Mithun has displayed an unwavering dedication to public service and fought for Oklahomans’ rights every step of the way.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor is calling on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to enforce federal law against attempts to intimidate U.S. Supreme Court Justices by protesting outside the Justices’ homes.

Attorney General O’Connor wrote a letter co-signed by 24 other state attorneys general demanding that U.S. Attorney General Garland take action to enforce federal law protecting Supreme Court Justices who are increasingly the target of groups of protestors gathering outside the Justices’ homes.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General John O’Connor today filed a brief in support of the Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) asking the United States Supreme Court to rule that race-based college admissions are unconstitutional.

In the filing, Attorney General O’Connor argues that federal law prohibits universities, including Harvard College and the University of North Carolina, from discriminating against Asian-American applicants in their admissions processes, and that discrimination on the basis of race in higher education admissions is unlawful.

The creation of a “Disinformation Governance Board” violates the constitutional freedoms that state attorneys general are responsible for defending.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor is joining a coalition of 14 states suing the Biden administration over yet another unlawful immigration rule (Asylum Rule). The new rule largely removes federal immigration judges from the asylum review process and instead gives asylum officers within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) unprecedented authority to grant asylum to immigrants. The new rule not only violates federal laws and bypasses Congress but also drastically erodes asylum integrity safeguards.
