Oklahoma's Victim Services Unit supports crime victims and their families by providing information, connection to local services, and direct assistance throughout the criminal process. Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond is committed to ensuring victims know their rights and are treated with the utmost respect.

Crime Victims' Rights Resources for Law Enforcement

Certified Programs

The Victim Services Unit oversees funding and certification for domestic violence/sexual assault, batterers intervention and adult victims of sex trafficking programs across the state.

Family Violence Prevention Services Act Under-served Populations Grant 

The purpose of the FVPSA Underserved Populations Grant application is to fund OAG Certified program sub-grantees in the State of Oklahoma who will establish, maintain and/or expand culturally specific programs for victims of family violence, domestic violence, dating violence, and their dependents and to provide specialized services for children exposed to family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence., specifically targeted toward under-served populations and victims who are members of racial and ethnic minority populations. underserved populations. Populations may be underserved due to ethnic,
racial, cultural, sexual orientation, language diversity, or geographic
isolation.

ELIGIBILITY:
(1) a local public agency, or a nonprofit private organization (including faith-based and charitable organizations, community-based organizations, tribal organizations, and voluntary associations) that assists victims of family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence, and their dependents, and has a documented history of effective work concerning family violence, domestic violence, or dating violence; or
(2) a partnership of two or more agencies or organizations that includes:
i. an agency or organization described in paragraph (1); and
ii. an agency or organization that has a demonstrated history of serving populations in their communities, including providing culturally appropriate services.
*All non-tribal applicants must be certified by the Office of Attorney General or must have submitted an application for certification prior to July 1st.

Applications will be evaluated by panel of six (6) individuals who have expertise in areas of domestic violence, family violence, program development, and other related fields of experience as chosen by the Chief of the Victim Services Unit. Each recipient of a sub-grant award will receive funding for the period from October 1st through September 30th.

Certification and Training

Certification of Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault, Batterers Intervention Programs and Adult Victims of Sex Trafficking

The purpose of certification is to assess a facility's responsibility to the client, and delivery of acceptable services to the client. Responsibility to the client is demonstrated through the provision of suitable facilities, trained staff and needed services which are accessible, safe and confidential. In addition to the above is the demonstration of the willingness and ability of the governing authority and staff to provide the planning, budgeting and management of resources necessary to the continued existence and effectiveness of the facility/services.

Oklahoma Victim Assistance Academy (OVAA)

The OVAA is an intensive week-long course of study designed to improve the quality and consistency of victim services in Oklahoma. It is open to victim advocates, service providers, law enforcement professionals and social service providers who work directly with crime victims in any capacity in a paid or volunteer position.

Participating in OVAA is based upon an application selection process. Those wishing to participate in OVAA must apply to the program and meet the following criteria:

  • Eligible professions: victim advocates, victim witness coordinators, law enforcement professionals, and social service providers with less than five years of experience.
  • Must serve in a paid or volunteer position having direct contact with Oklahoma victims of crime.

The OVAA is a week-long intensive course of study for crime victim service providers with less than five years of experience and designed to improve the quality and consistency of victim services in Oklahoma.

The next academy will be held in June 2024. Applications will be open in March 2024.

Oklahoma Partners for Change Conference

The Oklahoma Partners for Change Conference is held annually each fall. The Attorney General and partner agencies provide this two-day statewide conference on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human sex trafficking to enhance knowledge among state and tribal professionals, including law enforcement officers, advocates, prosecutors, judges and allied professionals.

Address Confidentiality Program (ACP)

The Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) assists victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human sex trafficking and stalking and their families with address confidentiality when establishing a new address unknown to his/her perpetrator. Participants are provided with a substitute address for use when interacting with state and local government agencies. Oklahoma VINE Criminal Tracking and Victim Notification System | VINE Protective Order

Crime Victims have the right to utilize the automated notification system to receive information on the location of the defendant following arrest, during prosecution, during a sentence to probation or confinement and when there is any release or escape from confinement.

Prior to 2010, the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board was housed at the Criminal Justice Resource Center. Therefore, DVFRB reports from previous years were not produced by the Office of the Attorney General.
