OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter and U.S. Attorney Tim Downing today announced a state-federal partnership that will combine resources and information to investigate and prosecute con artists attempting to defraud Oklahomans during the Coronavirus emergency.

Both the attorney general and the U.S. attorney for Oklahoma’s western district agree that combining state and federal resources enables the two agencies to more quickly verify allegations, which will expedite the process of stopping and punishing criminals who are using the current crisis for personal profits.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today issued a consumer alert after receiving reports of individuals attempting to sell at-home tests for the Coronavirus.

Attorney General Hunter said Oklahomans need to be on high alert for scam artists trying to sell or administer home-testing kits for COVID-19.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced the state’s price gouging statute is in effect statewide following Pres. Donald Trump’s emergency declaration regarding COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus.

The price gouging statute, or the Emergency Price Stabilization Act, prohibits an increase of more than 10% for the price of goods or services after a declared emergency. The statute automatically triggers after the issuance of a state or federal emergency declaration.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has joined a brief in support of the National Pork Producers Council and the American Farm Bureau Federation in their lawsuit against the state of California’s Proposition 12 rule that burdens every farmer, rancher and consumer of U.S. agricultural products.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter has joined a bipartisan coalition of 46 attorneys general from across the country filing an amicus brief in the U.S. Supreme Court that supports the authority of states to address the rising cost of prescription drugs.

The brief is in support of the state of Arkansas’ 2015 law that sought to require Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to raise their reimbursement rate for a drug if that rate were to fall below the pharmacy’s wholesale costs.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Mike Hunter today announced the state will dismiss its lawsuit against three of the nation’s largest opioid distributors, and will refile new lawsuits in state court against each company individually.

The strategic move comes three weeks after McKesson, Cardinal Health and AmerisourceBergen Corp. removed the state’s case from Cleveland County District Court to a federal court in Oklahoma City. Dismissing the charges takes the case out of federal court.

In January, the state filed one lawsuit against all three companies.

Suspects caught with nearly $125,000 worth of heroin

TULSA – Attorney General Mike Hunter today filed charges on two individuals who are accused with trafficking 3.5 pounds of heroin in the Tulsa area.

Kevin Jara, 27, and Raul Estrada, 24, both of Tulsa, have been charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug proceeds after an undercover investigation by the Tulsa Police Department found the heroin and nearly $60,000 that authorities believe is linked to the sale of drugs.
