Job Summary:  

The Oklahoma Attorney General's Office is seeking a Paralegal or Legal Assistant for the Solicitor General Division. They will be responsible for providing legal assistance to multiple attorneys, including: analyzing legal documents; preparing pleadings, briefs, exhibits, and correspondence; and coordinating with support staff for document production and filing in both state and federal courts. Duties will also include office management, including tracking and maintaining deadlines on dozens of cases for the Division, as well as maintaining and organizing legal case files, both in paper and digital format. Similarly, the candidate will be responsible for tracking Division expenditures, ordering supplies, and assisting attorneys with travel or deposition arrangements.

The successful candidate will be proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word, including using features such as the proper application of styles and the creation of tables of authorities. Previous experience in a civil-based law firm or court chamber is preferred. Knowledge of proper legal format and filing procedures in state and federal courts, including Oklahoma County District Court and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma, is required. Because the Solicitor General appears in cases across the state and country, being comfortable locating and complying with the unique local rules of all state and federal courts is also necessary. Prior experience with the Oklahoma Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals is preferred.
