Suspects caught with nearly $125,000 worth of heroin
TULSA – Attorney General Mike Hunter today filed charges on two individuals who are accused with trafficking 3.5 pounds of heroin in the Tulsa area.
Kevin Jara, 27, and Raul Estrada, 24, both of Tulsa, have been charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug proceeds after an undercover investigation by the Tulsa Police Department found the heroin and nearly $60,000 that authorities believe is linked to the sale of drugs.
Authorities estimate the street value for the 3.5 pounds of heroin seized is worth around $125,000.
Attorney General Hunter said the bust is another example of law enforcement’s commitment to getting dangerous drugs off the streets.
“These two individuals were making a profit, while flooding our state with dangerous narcotics,” Attorney General Hunter said. “Drugs like heroin cause addiction and death, while ripping apart families and communities. I applaud the work of the Tulsa Police Department, whose undercover operations continue to do tremendous work dismantling area trafficking operations.”
Both Jara and Estrada have been taken into custody.
The Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office is assisting in prosecuting the case.
If convicted, the defendants face prison time, fines and fees.
